Location: ul. Grzybowska 76/78
At Grzybowska street the number of high buildings constantly grows. Just next to the Hilton Hotel and planned Platinum Towers another skyscraper will rise up. The new 27-floored apartment house will be located at northern side of Grzybowska street, between its intersections with Towarowa and Wronia streets. Its project was worked out by British architectural workshop SOM (Skidmore Owings Merrill), the same one that designed the skyscraper Rondo 1. Polish workshop Epstein cooperated on the project. Irish Development Group (IGD) will be the building's investor.
The new building will have simple, but elegant shape, it will consist of two parts: lower, 8-floored and the tower, situated a little bit in the back. In the lower part windows will be situated only on front and back wall, so that it was possible in the future to build new buildings on both sides. A narrowing in half of the building's height will be a kind of variety. Also the elevation will be unusual - it will be composed of a little bit chaotic mosaic of glass, granite and metal rectangles - it is a reference to abstract paintings of Piet Mondrian. Previously, the building's height was planned to 84 metres. But the project was modified a little bit, a metal structure was added on the top, thanks to it, the building will reach the total height of 110 metres.
About 250 luxurious apartments will be located in the building. The price range of the area will be from 15 to 25 thousand zlotys per square metre. The occupants will have a service like in a hotel, they will for example have a possibility to order the flat's cleaning. They will be able also to use a restaurant, a swimming poll and a fitness club located in the lower part of the building. Car parks will be located on 5 underground floors. The construction of the new building is planned to be started in the second quarter of 2008 and it should be finished by 2010.
