At Zlota street the building of City Center was demolished lately and a new skyscraper designed by Daniel Libeskind is being constructed on its place. Just next to it, there is a second building, which is very similar to City Center - Holiday Inn Hotel. It may happen that it will end in the same way soon. First news about the construction of a 350-metre high skyscraper appeared (it is as high as the Palace of Culture with its spire and a half more). Apart from a hotel also offices would be located in it.
The operational licence of Holiday Inn expires in 2009. It is situated just in the middle of the city, its plot is very valuable, so it would be much more profitable to construct here much higher building. Orbis and Orco Property Group (the same one that builds a skyscraper by Daniel Libeskind on the next plot) would be the investors. It is spoken that also Daniel Libeskind could design this skyscraper. According to unofficial news, Warsaw authorities probably could agree for that investment.
The conception of this investment is now in a very initial phase and it is not yet known how probable the construction of a skyscraper here actually is. But this place seems to be perfect for a new city's dominant which would finally surpass the Palace of Culture.
Holiday Inn Hotel, the highest skyscraper in Warsaw would stand on its place:
