Biernacki Palace
Main data:
Year of reconstruction: 1850
Designer: Jozef Orlowski
Location: ul. Wolska 27/29
Exactly opposite the former WZ Cinema, on the southern side of Wolska street, there is another interesting building, much older than the surrounding buildings. Biernacki Palace is one of the most valuable historical buildings in Wola district. It is named after the family of Biernacki - the former landowners of Wola and Czyste settlements, which are today large parts of Wola district.
The classical palace, with annexes, was constructed in 1850, and in 1929 it was given by Celestyna Biernacka to the Order of Carmelite Sisters. Till today, in the palace's annexes a few shops has been located, but the palace itself still belongs to Carmelite Sisters. Thanks to that it remains a kind of quiet, sheltered island, surrounded by modern buildings and busy streets. South from the palace a monastery's garden is situated.
